OJO, FORMER REGISTRAR THANKS ALL The outgoing Registrar, Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, Mrs. Eunice Modupe Ojo has sent a “Thank You” card to all Staff and members of the University Community. In the card, she expressed her sincere thanks to all for the support, generosity, kind consideration, thoughtfulness and warmth received during her tenure as Registrar. Mrs. E. M. Ojo before her appointment as Registrar, on October 1, 2005 served in various administrative units of the University. She retired on 31st October, 2006 after 35 years of Meritorious service to the University. We wish Mrs. E. M. Ojo well in all her future endeavours.
NEW ACADEMIC SESSION: OAU RESUMES NOVEMBER 6, 2006 Prospective candidates should start checking the E-Portal for their admission and accommodation status, beginning from tomorrow, Thursday, 2nd November, 2006. The release also advised the candidates to check the admission list from their respective Faculties from Friday, 3rd November, 2006. By Monday, 6th November, successful candidates should check into their halls of residence while orientation begins on Tuesday, November 7, 2006. All students are requested to start registering on line from Sunday 5th November, 2006.
ACTING REGISTRAR APPOINTED An acting Registrar has been appointed for the Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife. She is Mrs. Opeyemi Olusimbo Olamijulo. Mrs. Olamijulo was the Director, Personnel Affairs before her appointment. Mrs. Olamijulo’s appointment as an Acting Registrar took effect from Wednesday, 1st November, 2006, following the retirement of Mrs. Eunice Modupe Ojo.

REGRADING S/NO NAMES DEPARTMENT POSITION EFFECTIVE DATE FRIESLAND FOODS PAYS COURTESY VISIT Professor Van Binbergen, a member of the International Advisory Council of Enhanced Nutrition Specialist Unit (ENSU), of Royal Friesland Food, a diary Nutrition Company in Holland has paid a courtesy call on the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Michael Faborode. Professor Binbergen who was accompanied by his wife, Mrs. Van Binbergen and Mrs. Ore Famurewa of Friesland Foods West African Milk Company (WAMCO) Nigeria Plc. makers of Peak Milk, were received by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Administration) Professor K.A. Ako-Nai and the Deputy Registrar, Corporate Services on behalf of the Vice-Chancellor. According to Professor Ako-Nai, Obafemi Awolowo University is one of the first Generation Universities and would therefore welcome any collaboration on human Nutrition, particularly that which concerns children. He said most children of his generation were brought up on Peak Milk whose Nutritional value was very beneficial and a key to a bright future. He also said that Obafemi Awolowo University was rated Number One by the National Universities Commission in the field of Research in Nigeria. Mrs. Ore Famurewa, responding said that, Friesland Foods, a Pioneer Milk company in Nigeria has set up a Child Nutrition Centre called Olu Akinkugbe Child Nutrition Centre to teach mothers the essence of wholesome living as it concerns their toddlers. She also said that Friesland Foods targeted some key Government hospitals and universities as pilot schemes to improve on their Good Child Nutrition Venture, hence their choice of Obafemi Awolowo University. The group who had earlier visited Obafemi Awolowo University Teaching Hospitals Complex Institute of Community and Child Health, at Eleyele said they were impressed by what they saw on ground, particularly the demonstration displayed by some mothers on good Child Nutrition.

D. degree in Law from a recognized University and must have been
called to the Nigerian Bar and enrolled as a Barrister & Solicitor of the
Supreme Court of Nigeria. Senior Lecturer An applicant for this position should possess: (i) A minimum of LL.M./M.Phil degree in Law obtained from a recognized University and should have been called to the Nigerian Bar and enrolled as a Barrister and Solicitor of the Supreme Court of Nigeria. A Ph.D. degree in Law will be a distinct advantage. (ii) A minimum of eight (8) years teaching and research experience in a University or similar institution, at least two of which should have been spent as a Lecturer Grade I. (iii) Good publications in reputable journals and/or books published by reputable publishers. (iv) Ability to supervise postgraduate studies. Taxonomy, Genetics and Cryptogram (Lower plants). Job Description The Graduate Assistant will be expected to participate actively in
practical classes, assist the Head of Department in any duties that he/she (ii) Principal Experimental Officer/Curator of Herbarium (1 vacancy) Qualification B.Sc. Degree in Botany or Herbarium management or Higher National Diploma or its equivalent from a reputably recognized institution and demonstrated experience and skill in identification of West African flora, ability and flexibility to engage in single or multi-day fieldwork, knowledge and experience in collection, management and use of plant specimens and a demonstrated ability to work with people with diverse scientific backgrounds. Experience in computer database management and excellent communication and organizational skills are added advantage. Job Description The position of Herbarium Curator is a diverse, challenging and rewarding fulltime position. It allows its holder to practice and grow in botanical taxonomic expertise as well as to hone skills in management of several plant specimens of a Herbarium. The position entails. (i) plant collection and management with a strong emphasis on plant
taxonomy or systematics; 3. Salary Salary and conditions of service are as obtainable in the Nigerian University system. 4.
