NEW ACADEMIC SESSION: OAU RESUMES NOVEMBER 6, 2006

The authorities of the Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife have announced Monday, 6th November, 2006 as the resumption date for the new academic session.

A release by the University's Public Relations Officer, Mr. Abiodun Olarewaju, states that prospective candidates should start checking the E-Portal for their admission and accommodation status, beginning from tomorrow, Thursday, 2nd November, 2006. The release also advised the candidates to check the admission list from their respective Faculties
starting from Friday, 3rd November, 2006.

By Monday, 6th November, 2006, successful candidates should check into their halls of residence while orientation begins on Tuesday, November 7, 2006.

All new students are, therefore, enjoined to comply with these directives.

OAU gets new Registrar

Meanwhile, an Acting Registrar has been appointed for the Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife. She is Mrs. Opeyemi Olusimbo Olamijulo.

Mrs. Olamijulo's appointment as an Acting Registrar takes effect from Wednesday, 1st November, 2006, following the retirement of Mrs. Eunice Modupe Ojo.

CERTIFICATE FORGERY: OAU DISMISSES 54 STUDENTS

As parts of concerted effort aimed at sanitizing the educational institutions in Nigeria and to also maintain a very high academic standard
among its contemporaries the world over, the authorities of the Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, has, again, dismissed fifty four (54)
students for gaining admission into the University with forged Secondary School Certificate Results. Majority of the students are in their final year.

While Faculties of Administration and "Science have Nineteen (19) and seventeen (17) out of the dimsmissed students, Faculties of Environmental Design and Management, Basic Medical Sciences, and faculty of Arts, have nine (9), four (4), and three (3) of their students respectively. Faculties of Education and Law have one student each.

Meanwhile, the Registrar of the University, Mrs. Eunice Modupe Ojo, has advised all Parents and Guardians to always monitor their children and wards so that their conducts would not tarnish the image of their respective families.

She then urged the youths to put the fear of God in their hearts adding that their acts of omission or commission could create indelible marks in their lives which may alter the course of their future either for better or for worse.

Mrs. Ojo therefore counseled the students to retrace their steps before it is too late appealing to the youths to always channel their energy to honest and profitable ventures.
